At 1650 meters above sea level a unique coffee farm named Doña Daisy, run by 75 year old don Pepe Fallas, Doña Daisy’s husband, can be found. Within only one and a half hectares, coffee is a way of life and a passion here.
Although their farms are quite small, they own many varieties, and specialize in Geisha nano-lots. They process their coffees using various methods, such as washed, honeys and natural aiming to optimize flavors within each nano-lot. Each year, they manage to produce only around 30 sacks.
To promote the diversity of the environment by attracting different types of birds, and contributing soil enrichment they also produce avocados, oranges, lemons, guavas, mangoes, and other fruits which they can also sell in the local market.
Among their practices, they use almost no water and reuse all coffee residues, stems, and leaves as fertilizer. They consult with expert agronomists in coffee and health to constantly innovate their processes. Don Pepe aims to collaborate with honest and sensible people on the farm level who bring the true flavors and values of Costa Rica to each cup of coffee.
