The Micro-Mill Don Alexis is the result of years of hard work by don Alexis Ramirez. He began as a peasant and dedicated his whole life to his passion: the agriculture of arabica coffee. After many years of heavy labour activities, it became clear to him that the only way to overcome current low coffee prices was through quality. It was definitely a challenge, but in 2015 he managed to found this micro-mill with the goal to meet the highest standards in the specialty coffee market. Short after this, after seen his dream come true, he passed away in 2017.

 

He left his Legacy of Hard Work to his children, who share the same vision as him and Planting Costa Rica: Traceability, Transparency and Quality.

 

Today the Ramirez Navarro family seeks perfection. For the last 5 years they have been developing the ideal drying processes to get the best of their coffee and they have focused on the best 6 results achieved: Washed, Honey, Natural, Washed Anaerobic, Natural Anaerobic and Double Fermentation.

 

Their coffee farms are only about 15 hectares big and are situated at around 1700 m.a.s.l. in Tablón, Cartago. These are one of the last of their kind as the city of Cartago continuously expands to its rural area.
