From Our Hands to Your Cup
Cosecha de Oro
In the highlands of Los Santos and Frailes, at elevations between 1,400 and 1,650 meters above sea level, Cosecha de Oro is a family driven coffee project rooted in love, legacy, and the pursuit of quality.
For Geiner Calderón and Zaira Romero, coffee is not just a crop, it’s a lifelong inheritance passed down through generations, a symbol of identity, and a promise to elevate their craft with every harvest.
Their dedication to specialty coffee took form in 2023 with their first direct export, marking a new chapter focused on transparency, quality, and connection with global buyers.
The farm spans 21 hectares across different microclimates, cultivating traditional and high value varieties such as Caturra, Geisha, Bourbon, and red and yellow Catuai.
They currently work with natural processing methods, allowing the full expression of terroir and variety to shine in each cup.
With approximately 400 fanegas produced per year and a seasonal team of about 30 pickers, mainly Panamanian Indigenous workers with legal permits, the project balances volume with artisanal care.
Sustainability is a natural extension of their philosophy. Nearby forested areas and on-farm beekeeping contribute to pollination and environmental balance, while agronomic guidance from ICAFE and local agricultural centers supports continuous improvement.
For Cosecha de Oro, quality begins in the field and extends through every step of the process, with a deep desire for the world to recognize not only the excellence of their coffee but also the story and people behind it.
Seeing their coffee enjoyed abroad is a dream come true, one they still find hard to believe. “We wish we could meet the person drinking our coffee and tell them: from our hands to your cup,” they say.
With a clear vision to grow and export all 400 fanegas annually, Cosecha de Oro stands as a powerful reminder that small producers with passion, resilience, and purpose can shape the future of specialty coffee.
