Growing a Legacy
Corazón de Jesús
In the misty mountains of Chirripó, between 1,450 and 2,000 meters above sea level, Corazón de Jesús is writing a new chapter in Costa Rica’s specialty coffee story.
Founded in 2015 by a family seeking a better life after leaving behind tomato and chili farming, this project emerged with a clear purpose: to create change through coffee.
With five distinct farms and 50 hectares under cultivation, they’ve built a vertically integrated operation from the ground up, driven by unity, resilience, and the dream of leaving a lasting legacy.
Corazón de Jesús specializes in exotic and high-potential varieties such as Geisha, Java, Wush Wush, and Milenio F1, all carefully matched to the unique terroirs of each finca.
Processing methods are equally ambitious, ranging from washed, honey, and natural to anaerobic and double-washed fermentations. Every lot is treated with precision, designed to highlight the expression of each variety and microclimate.
With an annual production of 1,000 to 1,200 fanegas, the emphasis is not on volume but on quality and full traceability.
What makes this family project stand out is its unwavering commitment to sustainability, innovation, and social impact.
Certified as a regenerative farm, Corazón de Jesús protects native forests and water sources while restoring soil health through regenerative practices.
They employ 60-80 seasonal workers, mostly Ngäbe-Buglé and Nicaraguan pickers, and handle every step of the process in-house, cultivating, processing, and exporting only coffee grown by their own hands.
Seeing their coffee in cups around the world is a source of deep pride and motivation. More than a business, Corazón de Jesús is a living testimony to the transformative power of coffee when guided by purpose and family.
With eyes set on a fairer, more transparent future for specialty coffee, they continue to grow, one lot, one story, and one dream at a time.
